In order to strengthen relationships between India and Canada and investigate business prospects, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met with Premier David Eby of British Columbia.
They talked about enhancing trade ties in sectors such as manufacturing, clean energy, technology, education, innovation, defence, and vital minerals. In order to start talks for the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), Goyal intends to head a trade and investment mission to Canada.
With $2.1 billion in bilateral trade in 2024, British Columbia is an important trading partner.
There are 12,000 IT companies in the area, and the life sciences industry is growing quickly. Eby also mentioned recent prosperous trade trips to Asia that resulted in important projects. In an effort to achieve balanced commercial relations, India is actively negotiating trade agreements with 14 nations.
