During India Energy Week 2026 in Goa, Canada and India inked a joint statement to strengthen their energy cooperation.
The goal of this agreement, which was reached after a meeting between Canada’s Energy Minister Timothy Hodgson and India’s Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, is to improve relations in the areas of investments, clean energy, oil, and gas.
The revamped India-Canada Ministerial Energy Dialogue was introduced by both ministers with an emphasis on diversified supply chains and energy security for economic expansion. India, the third-largest oil consumer, wants to increase its influence in the energy world, while Canada wants to increase its energy exports.
Increased bilateral energy commerce is part of the accord, and both countries should expect substantial investment prospects.
