India has claimed the top spot in the India Business Climate Ranking among 41 global markets evaluated in the Business Climate Survey 2026. The Swedish Chamber of Commerce in India (SCCI) jointly conducted the annual study alongside Team Sweden to track multinational enterprise performance and market sentiment.
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal highlighted the milestone. He noted that India’s stable environment offers a global benchmark for growth and operational ease despite broader international turbulence.
High Investor Confidence Drives the India Business Climate Ranking
The survey highlights strong operational optimism among Swedish companies already working in India.
- Sustained Momentum: Around 73% of surveyed Swedish firms rated India’s business environment as good or very good.
- Investment Intentions: Over 61% of respondents plan to expand their capital investments across India over the next 12 months.
- Regional Performance: The Asia-Pacific (APAC) region led overall global business sentiment, with India and Vietnam receiving the highest overall evaluations.
India’s expanding middle class, rapid digital infrastructure growth, and robust manufacturing programs continue to drive high investor interest.
Evaluating Strategic Opportunities and Operational Factors
The Global Business Climate Survey provides a benchmark for evaluating economic performance, operational conditions, and expansion targets. While Swedish firms report strong profitability and rising turnover in India, the report also identifies areas for continued structural refinement.
Businesses emphasized the need for ongoing administrative streamlining and clearer regulatory policy frameworks to further ease market entry. Nevertheless, India’s strong performance reinforces its status as a primary destination for long-term international capital.
