ICICI Bank reduces minimum average balance for new savings accounts

Mumbai, August 14 ICICI Bank has partially reversed its minimum average balance (MAB) requirements for new customers in Metro and urban areas, following customer backlash.

The revision came after the bank raised the MAB requirement from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 for new customers in urban cities. The minimum balance for semi-urban customers has been reduced to Rs 7,500 from Rs 25,000, and for rural locations to Rs 2,500 from Rs 10,000.

However, the bank clarified that customers with a balance below the prescribed limit will face a penalty.
