GAIL Director Projects: Manoj Kumar Sharma Takes Charge of Board Role

GAIL (India) Limited has officially appointed Shri Manoj Kumar Sharma as its new GAIL Director Projects. He took charge of the post on September 19, 2026. The state-run energy major notified stock exchanges following formal approval from its Board of Directors and nomination by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

Sharma joins the board as an Additional Director. His appointment ensures continuous leadership for GAIL’s expanding pipeline network and infrastructure initiatives.

Tenure and Official Mandate for the New GAIL Director Projects

Sharma’s leadership tenure runs through April 30, 2031, marking his date of superannuation, or until further government orders.

GAIL confirmed that Sharma holds no inter-se relationships with other board members. Furthermore, statutory authorities have not debarred him from holding a directorial post. The company completed all regulatory disclosures under the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

Over Three Decades of Industry Leadership

Sharma brings more than 30 years of hands-on expertise in the hydrocarbon sector. His professional background covers engineering, procurement, construction, and overall project management for mega pipeline networks and terminals.

  • Educational Qualifications: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Production & Industrial Engineering) from Delhi College of Engineering and a PG Diploma in Business Management from XIMB, Bhubaneswar.
  • Previous Roles: Served as Executive Director (Projects) at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) Pipelines Division and Executive Director & Regional Head for Eastern Region Pipelines.
  • Board Experience: Held nominee directorships on the boards of GSPL India Transco Limited, GSPL India Gasnet Limited, and Kochi Salem Pipeline Private Limited.

His extensive operational experience will accelerate GAIL’s ongoing expansion across major domestic gas pipeline corridors.
