To update its Blue Line trains and improve the safety, comfort and travel experience of its passengers, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has begun a massive mid-life rehabilitation project. The goal of the program is to guarantee that the oldest trains, known as RS-1s, are still up to date in terms of safety and performance. Seventy trains operating on the Red and Blue Lines are undergoing gradual refurbishment as part of the extensive initiative.
Originally entered between 2002 and 2007, these trains have now been in operation for almost 19 to 24 years. Refurbished trains number thirty-one thus far.
Prior to its introduction to passenger service, the first restored train of Phase 3 was examined by Vikas Kumar, Managing Director of DMRC. In order to provide millions of daily commuters with safe, dependable, and passenger-friendly metro services, the refurbishment initiative is bringing older trains up to speed with DMRC’s newer rolling stock.
