BOOK READING SHOULD TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER DIGITAL LITERACY, SAYS UJWAL TAH, DIRECTOR GENERAL OF MINES SAFETY, ON THE SECOND DAY OF THE NEYVELI BOOK FAIR.
New Delhi, July 07: Crowds, including students, thronged the Neyveli Book Fair on the second day today, 05.07.25. The Neyveli Book Fair 2025 was inaugurated by the Union Minister for Coal and Mines yesterday.
At a function held today at the Book Fair, UjwalTah, Director General of Mines Safety, was the Chief Guest. Dr. Suresh Chandra Suman, Director (Mines) and (P&P) AC was the President of the function. T.R. Kannan, Dy. Director General of Mines Safety and T.S. Saravanan, Principal, All India Civil Service Coaching Centre, Government of Tamil Nadu, Chennai, officials of NLCIL and children participated in the function.
In his Chief Guest address, UjwalTah said that writers had a big role to play in society. Though digital literacy was rising, reading habits should also increase, he said. He congratulated NLC India Limited for organising the Book Fair in such a grand manner.
Dr. Suresh Chandra Suman, Director (Mines) and (P&P) AC, NLCIL, in his presidential address said that NLCIL was proud to honour writers and publishers. The Book Fair is testimony to the fact that the written word is more powerful than digital content, he opined.
M/s. PuratchiBharathiPathippagam, Chennai was the Publisher honoured while BoopathyPeriyasamy was the writer honoured. A Book “OrukanithaviyalalanKorumMannippu” was released on the occasion. Singing competition was conducted for visitors as part of the On-the-spot competitions at the Book Fair premises. Ekjute’srecord breaking play, “With love, AapkiSaiyaara” by Juhi Babar Soni was performed as part of the cultural programme.
