Arunachal Pradesh’s Raj Bhavan has been officially renamed ‘Lok Bhavan’ following a directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
This change aligns with similar renaming actions in seven other Northeastern states, including Assam and Tripura. Governor Lt. General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) confirmed the change upon his return to Itanagar.
An order issued by Commissioner Pawan Kumar Sain emphasized that ‘Lok Bhavan’ will now be used for all official communications and documentation related to the Governor’s office.
The rebranding seeks to reflect a respect for democratic values, as articulated by Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, who noted that the previous name, ‘Raj Bhavan’, could imply royal connotations. This change is expected to be implemented across all governmental departments and agencies in Arunachal Pradesh.
