As part of its worldwide commitment for sustainability and carbon neutrality, Apple has announced an investment of Rs 100 crore to assist with the development of renewable energy infrastructure in India.
Together with CleanMax, a frontrunner among India’s renewable energy producers, the investment will fund the construction of over 150 MW of renewable energy capacity across the nation.
The iPhone maker claims that the proposed capacity can power approximately 1.5 lakh houses per year, with room for future expansion. In line with its objective of attaining carbon neutrality throughout its entire business footprint by 2030, the program seeks to enhance the utilisation of renewable energy across Apple’s supply chain operations in India.
Environmental initiatives at Apple are a key driver of innovation on a worldwide scale, according to Sarah Chandler, VP of environment and supply chain innovation at Apple.
She proudly announced that the company would be increasing its investments in India’s renewable energy sector in an effort to safeguard the nation’s valuable natural resources. To power its offices and retail locations in India using 100 per cent renewable energy, Apple had previously partnered with CleanMax on rooftop solar projects.
