Adani Green Energy Limited has topped the Energy Intelligence’s ‘Global Top 100 Green Utilities’ ranking, previously holding third place.
This shift highlights a market-focused transition to low-carbon power generation, with Adani displacing China National Nuclear Corp, which now ranks fourth. Among the top 10, two companies are from India, marking a growth from one in the 2011 ranking.
The evaluation considers companies’ renewable portfolios and greenhouse gas emissions, revealing a significant trend towards Asian firms in the energy transition. CO2 emissions from these generators decreased by 6% last year.
The global energy landscape is increasingly characterized by investments in renewable sources, particularly wind and solar.
