While attending the Rashtriya Gramin Vikas Sammelan at New Delhi’s Pusa Campus, Union Minister for Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan introduced the portal.
The portal, which was created in collaboration between the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and the Ministry of Rural Development, offers a centralised digital platform for managing all aspects of internal audits. The CCA’s office came up with the idea for the system, which uses artificial intelligence to replace antiquated paper-based audit methods with a cutting-edge digital framework that can handle both risk-based and compliance audits.
The effort unifies audit planning, execution, reporting, analytics, compliance management, and monitoring into a single ecosystem, according to the ministry. This is a big step towards modernising internal audit methods.
Manual paperwork, dispersed records, reporting delays, and restricted monitoring capabilities are some of the long-standing issues with traditional audit systems that the new platform resolves. The portal creates a centralised digital archive that authorities may use to maintain compliance, evaluate risks, monitor repeated audit observations, and improve decision-making over time.
Auditors, program divisions, field officials, and other stakeholders were heavily consulted before the statewide deployment by the ministry. The platform was progressively expanded after a successful pilot project was established in the Chandauli region of Uttar Pradesh on April 1, 2025. Starting in October 2025, all of the main modules were completely functional.
Everything from audit planning and engagement approvals to audit observations and action taken reports (ATRs) to para settlement and record archiving is now managed by the platform.
In order to strengthen governance across rural development programs, officials are hoping that the AI-powered platform will greatly increase the efficiency of internal audits. This will be achieved through digitalising audit workflows, automating report generation, enabling risk-based audit planning, and facilitating real-time monitoring of audit progress.
