Air India Express to Start Navi Mumbai-Abu Dhabi Flights on July 15, Marks NMIA International Debut

An important step forward in the development of the newest aviation hub in Maharashtra, Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) has been announced by Air India Express as the beginning of direct international flights connecting NMIA with Abu Dhabi. As a result, the airline would significantly enhance air connectivity between India and the UAE, becoming the first carrier to launch international operations from Navi Mumbai International Airport.

Wednesdays and Fridays will be the first days of operation for the new service, which is set to launch on July 15, 2026. The airline will add a third route per week on Sundays starting July 29 in response to expected customer demand, bringing the total number of weekly flights to three.

The flight itinerary has been reported as leaving Abu Dhabi at 5:45 am and arriving at Navi Mumbai at 10:20 am local time. Offering flexible travel alternatives for both business and leisure passengers, the return flight will depart Navi Mumbai at 2:55 am and reach Abu Dhabi at 4:35 am local time.

Air India Express now offers 30 weekly flights from Navi Mumbai to key cities including Abu Dhabi, Delhi, and Bengaluru, thanks to the addition of Abu Dhabi services. The decision is in keeping with the airline’s plan to increase its presence at developing aviation hubs and broaden its international connections.

The carrier’s footprint in Maharashtra is expanding. As one of its primary operational markets, the state is currently served by Air India Express with over 100 weekly flights from Pune, 14 weekly flights from Nagpur, and 95 weekly flights from Mumbai.

Another international gateway to the UAE has opened up for passengers in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) with the opening of the Navi Mumbai-Abu Dhabi route. Business travellers, tourists, expats, and transit passengers are all expected to reap the benefits of the improved connectivity, which will provide them with increased travel flexibility and convenience.

Official travel booking channels, including the airline’s website and mobile app, are currently accepting reservations for the new route. The airline anticipates a high level of demand due to the substantial volume of passengers travelling between the Gulf region and India.

Among the major India-West Asia networks, Air India Express presently links many Indian cities to locations in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar. Navi Mumbai’s inclusion in its global network strengthens its position in the expanding Gulf travel industry.

Aviation companies are progressively increasing their activities at Navi Mumbai International Airport, which is anticipated to significantly alleviate congestion at the current airport in Mumbai. This news coincides with their expansion plans. The airport is expected to become a significant logistics and aviation hub for western India, according to specialists in the aviation industry. This would help with the long-term economic growth and connectivity needs of the region.
