PM Modi Announces ₹2,400 Crore PM-VBRY Incentives to Boost Youth Employment and Skills

One of the government of India’s flagship employment-generation initiatives, the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY), will distribute incentives worth about Rs 2,400 crore at a special programme that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend on Friday at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

Prime Minister Modi announced the initiative on the social media platform X, explaining that it is part of the government’s larger plan to strengthen India’s Yuva Shakti, increase employment opportunities, and broaden the country’s social security coverage.

The Prime Minister stressed that the creation of jobs is an important part of India’s plan for economic growth, and that PM-VBRY is an initiative that aims to do just that by providing possibilities for young people looking for work and by encouraging companies to increase their staff through official channels.

A major step toward realising the goals of PM-VBRY—which include boosting job development through financial assistance for both firms and employees—has been the distribution of incentives. The goals of the program are to increase the number of people who are formally employed, boost employability, and provide social security benefits to more people.

The initiative is having an increasing effect on many parts of the economy, since official estimates indicate that it has already created about 15 lakh job opportunities. Supporting inclusive economic growth and bolstering India’s labour market are two of the anticipated key outcomes of the project.

For those who are just starting out in their careers, PM-VBRY is a lifesaver. To help those who qualify get their professions off the ground and into the formal market, there is an incentive program that offers up to Rs 15,000.

Employers who create more jobs will also receive hefty benefits under the plan. A substantial incentive for companies to increase their staff size and provide more job chances is the PM-VBRY program, which offers up to Rs 3,000 monthly to firms for every new worker.

The government has introduced improved assistance for employers in the manufacturing sector in recognition of the strategic importance of manufacturing in generating economic development and employment. Businesses in the manufacturing industry can take advantage of incentives for as long as four years, while businesses in other industries can enjoy benefits for as little as two.

With its implementation on August 1, 2025, PM-VBRY stands as one of the most ambitious employment-linked incentive programs that the Indian government has ever introduced. The plan seeks to create over 3.5 crore employment over the course of two years with a total expenditure of Rs 99,446 crore.

About 1.92 crore of the estimated beneficiaries will be those who are just getting their feet wet in the job; this would greatly increase social security coverage in India and help solidify formal employment.

The goal of the program is to help young people find good jobs as the economy grows, which is in line with the government’s plan to build a strong and inclusive job market. Aiming to enhance India’s economic basis and promote sustainable employment growth, PM-VBRY links incentives with job creation and workforce formalisation.

The government’s commitment to youth empowerment, skill development, and employment generation is evident in the future incentive distribution scheme. These initiatives are vital parts of the bigger Viksit Bharat goal.
