Navi Mumbai and Guwahati Airports Win Global Recognition in Prix Versailles World’s Most Beautiful Airports List 2026

Two of Adani Airport Holdings Limited’s (AAHL) significant projects were included in the esteemed Prix Versailles World’s Most Beautiful Airports List 2026, further solidifying the company’s reputation as a top provider of airport infrastructure.

Terminal 2 of Guwahati’s Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) and Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) were both presented with the prestigious award, which recognises India’s rising profile in the development of cutting-edge aviation infrastructure that prioritises sustainability, innovation, and the comfort of passengers.

The Prix Versailles are given every year at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris to honour the best in global architecture. The projects that have achieved this level of excellence in user experience, cultural sensitivity, environmental consciousness, and modern design have been recognised with these prestigious prizes.

The unusual lotus-inspired architecture of Terminal 1 at Navi Mumbai International Airport has been widely acclaimed; this design represents India’s economic prosperity and global ambitions. Blending cutting-edge technology, efficient passenger flow, artistic components, and modern infrastructure, the airport has been planned as a next-generation aviation center, ensuring a seamless travel experience.

This award is especially meaningful because Navi Mumbai International Airport is poised to significantly contribute to the region’s connectivity, economic growth, and the support of western India’s fast expanding air traffic demand.

At the same time, the distinctive Bamboo Orchid-inspired design of Guwahati’s Terminal 2 at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport garnered praise for its ability to capture the essence of Northeast India’s cultural heritage and abundant biodiversity. The terminal’s ability to highlight the region’s cultural and environmental legacy in an environmentally conscious and functional way has earned it high accolades.

The newly opened airports and terminals that promote sensible sustainability through their exemplary modern architecture are the recipients of the Prix Versailles awards, according to its organisers. The goal is to recognise and honour infrastructure projects that integrate culture, innovation, and environmental concerns to develop a more balanced and fulfilling travel experience.

Adani Airport Holdings is joining an exclusive club of international airport operators whose initiatives are reshaping the aviation industry’s trajectory with the addition of the Navi Mumbai and Guwahati airports.

Guangzhou (China), Frankfurt am Main (Germany), Kandal Stueng (Cambodia), Pittsburgh (USA), and San Diego (USA) airports are among those that will be included in the 2026 Prix Versailles list.

Such global acknowledgement, according to industry analysts, will encourage further investments in environmentally friendly and passenger-focused airport expansion while also bolstering India’s image as a quickly growing aviation market.

In addition to meeting transportation demands, the award highlights the rising importance of airport infrastructure that boosts the economy, attracts tourists, improves local communities, and showcases cultural diversity on a worldwide scale.
