According to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, India has successfully weathered global turmoil thanks to Narendra Modi’s well-calibrated policies and swift execution.
Vaishnaw outlined the three main drivers of the country’s transformation—railways, electronics and semiconductors, and artificial intelligence—during his speech at the CII Annual Business Summit 2026.
He brought attention to the rail sector’s advancements by mentioning that capital investment increased significantly from approximately ₹66,000 crore to nearly ₹2.72 lakh crore in the previous fiscal year. He went on to say that there has been a dramatic increase in the manufacture of both waggons and locomotives, and that approximately 49,000 km of railway tracks have been electrified, which is equivalent to Germany’s entire network.
The emphasis on quality-focused and cost-efficient systems in India’s infrastructure and industrial push, according to Vaishnaw, is setting the country up for long-term resilience. A highly developed and independent economy, he said, could not have been possible without the fast growth of the electronics manufacturing sector.
The minister spoke highly of AI, calling it a “transformative force” that is changing the face of many industries throughout the world. He stressed the importance of taking a strategic approach to AI in order to reap its efficiency and productivity gains to the fullest.
In light of the current geopolitical climate, Vaishnaw has called on the people of India to help strengthen the economy by cutting back on money leaving the country and stepping up initiatives to increase income, all in the name of creating a “Viksit Bharat.”
