Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri assured on Tuesday that domestic fuel availability remains steady despite geopolitical concerns in the region, saying that India is safeguarding its energy supplies by diversifying its crude oil and gas import sources beyond West Asia.
Despite disruptions created by the turmoil in the Middle East, the minister of energy and petroleum told the media that India’s fuel supply chain remains stable because the country’s energy imports continue to come through different sources and supply channels.
The government has proactively taken steps to guarantee that essential fuels for households and priority sectors are supplied uninterrupted, according to Puri.
Despite supply issues, compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG) continue to be supplied at 100% to domestic customers, while industries are receiving gas at a rate of roughly 70-80%.
Posting on X (Twitter), the minister reaffirmed the government’s resolve to ensure that all households in the nation have access to reliable and reasonably priced electricity.
The Indian government is keeping a careful eye on international events to ensure the country’s energy independence, according to Puri. “There is no shortage for domestic consumers, and there is no reason to panic,” he added.
India is attempting to diversify its energy sources and decrease its reliance on existing supply lines in response to increasing global geopolitical uncertainty.
