Power Surge: India Installs 50,000+ MW Capacity in FY26 So Far

In the first ten months of fiscal year 2026, India added 52,537 MW of capacity for generating energy, an increase of 11% over the previous year.

Solar power accounts for 34,955 MW and wind power for 4,613 MW, for a total of 39,657 MW.

Fifty percent of the entire installed capacity, which is 520,510.95 MW, comes from sources other than fossil fuels. India is determined to attain Net Zero emissions by 2070 and 500 GW of non-fossil electricity by 2030, according to Union Minister Pralhad Joshi.

The Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar program and the Prime Minister’s KUSUM scheme are two major projects that have helped solarise agricultural activities for 2.17 million farmers and 2.5 million households, respectively.

By issuing Perpetual Tier I Bonds with a coupon rate of 7.87% per annum, HUDCO (Housing and Urban Development Corporation
