At the United Nations Commission for Social Development, Minister Savitri Thakur emphasised that social justice is fundamental to the Viksit Bharat objectives of India.
Following in the footsteps of the Doha and Copenhagen declarations, Thakur placed an emphasis on development that is both rights-based and inclusive. With the motto “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”, India’s governing philosophy is to promote equality and respect for all.
Over 800 million people will have access to food security, and 550 million will have free healthcare, two of the many social safety programmes she outlined. Financial programmes and labour reforms that promote equal pay are key initiatives for women.
India is prepared to share its development experience globally and has a civilisational culture that reflects its dedication to social justice.
