NTPC Restructures Operations, Transfers Key Coal Mines to Subsidiary

Effective February 1, 2026, NTPC Limited’s Dulanga Coal Mine in Sundergarh, Odisha, and Talaipalli Coal Mine in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, will be held by NTPC Mining Limited (NML), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited. This is part of a strategic reorganisation.

This move is in line with NTPC’s gradual strategy to bring all of its coal mining activities under NML, which will improve efficiency and streamline operations. As mentioned in NTPC’s previous announcement, this transfer was originally supposed to take place on January 31, 2026.

Ritu Arora, NTPC’s Company Secretary & Compliance Officer, verified the transfer and explained that the company is reorganising to enhance the management of its coal mining assets and boost operational performance company-wide. The decision is in line with NTPC’s plan to improve the efficiency of power generation, streamline coal supply chains, and fortify its subsidiary operations in the long run.
