By entering into a Master LNG Sale and Purchase Agreement (MSPA) with TotalEnergies Gas & Power Ltd (TEGPL), the state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has taken a calculated move to fortify India’s LNG supply infrastructure.
The deal gives ONGC more procurement flexibility in the face of changing global energy markets by allowing it to take part in future LNG sourcing opportunities, including spot and short-term LNG cargoes.
In order to improve the robustness, competitiveness, and dependability of its LNG sourcing strategy, ONGC plans to onboard TotalEnergies, one of the top LNG suppliers in the world with a diverse worldwide portfolio. The action guarantees safe gas supply for India’s expanding energy demands while supporting ONGC’s larger transformation into an integrated energy major.
On the fringes of India Energy Week 2026, the MSPA was concluded on January 27, 2026, highlighting ONGC’s ongoing emphasis on long-term supply security and diverse energy alliances.
