PM Modi showcases India’s Oil & gas Investment prospects at India Energy week 2026

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged multinational corporations to invest and innovate in India, stating that the country’s oil and gas industry presents $500 billion in investment prospects.

Speaking at India Energy Week 2026, he emphasised exploration industry changes, such as the Samudra Manthan Mission, which aims to invest $100 billion by the end of the decade.

With plans for a domestic shipbuilding programme and pipeline network expansion, Modi emphasised the growing demand for LNG while highlighting India’s substantial refining capability of 260 million metric tonnes annually, with the goal of surpassing 300 MMT.

He reaffirmed the necessity of investing in petrochemical goods and downstream operations, claiming that India is undergoing major reforms to establish an open, investor-friendly environment with the ultimate goal of a globally competitive energy sector.
