Iran Airspace Closure Disrupts The Route Of International Flights

The abrupt closure of Iranian airspace amid growing tensions with the United States and continuous protests against Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has prompted major Indian airlines, including Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet, to announce the rerouting and cancellation of international flights.

Citing passenger safety, Air India changed flight routes over the area and cancelled early morning flights to Newark and New York. The airspace restriction caused IndiGo’s flight from Baku to Delhi to return shortly after departure. On the other hand, the airspace restrictions also affect SpiceJet and other foreign airlines like Lufthansa, causing them to alter their operations.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs advised its citizens living in Iran to leave the country and refrain from travelling there till further notice as a result of the circumstances.
