PM Modi’s Three-Nation Visit to Boost Trade and Investment Links

PM Modi’s three-nation visit to Jordan, Ethiopia, and Oman aims to enhance India’s economic ties and investment opportunities in West Asia and Africa.

A key achievement prior to this visit was the Union Cabinet’s approval of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Oman, formalized in the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) initiated in November 2023.

The economic relationship between India and Oman is robust, with bilateral trade reaching $10.613 billion for FY 2024-25 and over 6,000 joint ventures contributing approximately $7.5 billion to Oman’s economy. In Oman, PM Modi is set to discuss strengthening the Strategic Partnership with the Sultan.

Additionally, India is Jordan’s third-largest trading partner, with trade valued at around $2.8 billion, focused on fertilizers. In Ethiopia, India was the second-largest trading partner with a trade volume of $550 million in FY25, exporting mainly iron and steel, pharmaceuticals, and machinery.
