INS Mahe, the first vessel of the Mahe-class anti-submarine warfare shallow-water craft, was commissioned by the Indian Navy, enhancing India’s coastal defense and combat readiness in littoral zones.
The ceremony in Mumbai, attended by Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, emphasized the importance of tri-service synergy for national security. General Dwivedi highlighted the Navy’s evolution into a “Builders’ Navy,” with over 75% of its platforms being indigenously sourced.
He urged the crew to uphold high standards of responsibility and bravery. INS Mahe, part of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, is designed for anti-submarine warfare and coastal patrols, embodying agility and effectiveness with symbolism rooted in Mahe’s coastal heritage. The vessel represents a step forward in India’s maritime security architecture.
