Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kakinada Seaports Limited (KSPL) to develop shipbuilding capabilities at KSPL’s premises and jointly pursue major shipbuilding projects.
The agreement was signed at INMARCO by Rear Admiral Chandrasekharan Raghuram, VSM (Retd), Chairman and Managing Director of HSL, and K.V. Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of KSPL.
Under the partnership, the companies will explore using and expanding existing infrastructure, including slipways and jetty facilities, to support HSL’s shipbuilding activities. They will also work together to identify and execute projects by combining their respective expertise, facilities and resources.
The collaboration reflects HSL’s strategy of expanding capacity through partnerships and making greater use of available maritime infrastructure. It also seeks to create opportunities in shipbuilding and allied activities.
HSL said the agreement represents a shared commitment to strengthening India’s maritime capabilities. The partnership underscores the role of cooperation between shipyards and port operators in supporting the country’s shipbuilding ambitions.
