India and Singapore have agreed to deepen energy collaboration under their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, focusing on renewable energy investment, electricity connectivity and emerging clean technologies.
Union Minister of State for Power and New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik held discussions with Singapore’s Gan Siow Huang during Singapore International Energy Week 2026. Naik invited Singaporean investors to explore long-term opportunities in India’s transmission networks, pumped storage, battery storage and renewable energy projects.
The talks also addressed green hydrogen, ammonia, energy efficiency and potential partnerships between Indian power equipment manufacturers and Singaporean utilities. Cross-border electricity interconnection featured prominently on the agenda.
Highlighting India’s investment potential, Naik said installed electricity capacity reached 558.9 GW as of September 30, 2026, with non-fossil sources contributing approximately 308 GW, or 55%. India is pursuing a target of 500 GW of non-fossil capacity by 2030.
Naik also reviewed hydropower cooperation with Bhutan and held separate discussions with the International Renewable Energy Agency and the International Energy Agency on financing, energy planning and technology cooperation.
