GEM 2026 has enabled four girls from NTPC Kanti’s Project Affected Villages to secure admission to DAV NTPC Kanti in Class VI. NTPC Kanti will support their education up to Class XII/Intermediate. The estimated expenditure on their education is ₹10.50 lakh.
The four students are Varsha Kumari from Demha, Lakshmi Kumari from Rampur Lakshmi, Nishi Kumari from Bastpur Sherna and Anushka Kumari from Madhuban. They secured admission based on their performance during the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2026.
The month-long residential programme was held from May 25 to June 20, 2026. It brought together 50 girls from NTPC Kanti’s Project Affected Villages.
GEM 2026 Builds Academic and Life Skills
GEM 2026 combines classroom learning with life skills and personality development. The academic programme covered Mathematics, English, Hindi, Science and Computer Education.
The girls also took part in yoga, dance, music, painting and karate. The programme included English speaking, public speaking and personality development sessions. These activities aimed to build confidence and support the girls beyond regular classroom education.
Pankaj Kumar Gupta, Head of Project, NTPC Kanti, said the initiative focuses on more than academic learning. He highlighted the importance of building confidence, aspirations and opportunities for girls from neighbouring communities.
He also said the admission of the four students to DAV NTPC Kanti was a matter of pride. NTPC Kanti will continue to support their education and development.
GEM 2026 Extends Support Beyond the Programme
The initiative extends the impact of the residential programme through continued educational support. NTPC Kanti will fund the four students through Class XII/Intermediate.
GEM is a flagship NTPC initiative for girls living around its project locations. It focuses on education, life skills, health and hygiene awareness, sports and personality development. The programme also supports NTPC’s wider CSR priorities in education, women’s empowerment and community development.
The admission of four girls to DAV NTPC Kanti marks a key outcome of GEM 2026. Continued support through Class XII is expected to help the students pursue their education and create further opportunities for their future.
