Unveiling the Six Pillars of Semicon 2.0
Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw outlined plans for the next phase of the India Semiconductor Mission, dubbed Semicon 2.0. Built on six operational pillars—chip design, equipment and materials, fabs, advanced packaging, R&D, and talent—the updated framework expands support to at least 200 chip-design startups.
The government has already enabled EDA tool access for over 400 universities and trained 70,000 design engineers, laying a strong foundation for domestic intellectual property and commercial fabrication.
