The IndiaAI Mission and Sweden are exploring new opportunities for AI cooperation, digitalisation and technology partnerships under the Sweden-India Technology and AI Corridor (SITAC).
The bilateral dialogue was held at Electronics Niketan, New Delhi. It brought together senior officials, technology companies and industry representatives from both countries.
The meeting focused on India’s expanding AI ecosystem and Sweden’s industrial and technology capabilities. Discussions covered enterprise AI, digital infrastructure, responsible AI and opportunities for joint industry engagement.
India Sweden AI Cooperation: Building Technology Synergies
The session was hosted by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). Shri Ajit Kumar, Joint Secretary, International Cooperation Division, MeitY, welcomed the participants.
Shri Saurabh Vijay IAS, CEO, IndiaAI Mission, delivered the opening remarks. H.E. Agnes Julin, Minister Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Sweden in India, also addressed the gathering.
Shri Saurabh Vijay highlighted the complementary strengths of both countries. Sweden brings industrial, research and advanced manufacturing expertise. India offers scale, digital public infrastructure, AI talent and diverse testing environments.
Agnes Julin highlighted the scope for stronger business engagement. She pointed to trade, regulation and startup collaboration as important areas for India-Sweden technology cooperation.
IndiaAI Mission Highlights India’s AI Priorities
The IndiaAI Mission presented an overview of India’s AI ecosystem and digital roadmap. The presentation highlighted opportunities for Swedish companies in India’s growing AI market.
Key priorities of the mission include:
- AI compute capacity
- Datasets and AI models
- Indigenous and domain-specific AI
- AI application development
- Future skills
- Startup financing
- Safe and Trusted AI
The presentation also highlighted opportunities for international technology and industrial companies. These include participation in India’s AI infrastructure, innovation ecosystem and responsible AI adoption.
AI Cooperation Focuses on Enterprise Adoption
The discussions examined the conditions shaping enterprise AI adoption in India. Participants discussed data governance, localisation, responsible AI and market access.
The dialogue also explored areas where Swedish industrial capabilities could align with India’s AI priorities. These included industrial AI, trusted data, compute infrastructure, skills and responsible AI.
The focus was on moving beyond policy discussions. Participants explored practical opportunities such as pilots, testbeds, co-development and commercial partnerships.
Swedish Companies Explore India’s AI Ecosystem
The Swedish delegation was led by Johnny Eriksson, Market Manager, Business Sweden. He presented an overview of SITAC and Sweden’s priorities in AI and digitalisation.
Representatives from several leading Swedish companies participated in the meeting. These included Autoliv, Consat, IKEA, Saab, Sandvik AI, Sandvik Intelligent Manufacturing, SKF and Volvo Group.
Indian technology companies also participated in the dialogue. The participants included Tech Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Zenteiq, Avataar AI, Innefu, CoRover.ai, Gnani and Globals ITES.
The Indian companies showcased enterprise AI capabilities and technology solutions. The discussions also provided Swedish companies with insights into deployment-ready AI innovations emerging from India.
Scope for AI Pilots and Commercial Partnerships
The dialogue identified potential opportunities for industry-led cooperation. These could include pilot projects, technology co-development, testbeds and commercial partnerships.
The participants also discussed how specific enterprise and industrial requirements could drive collaboration. This approach could help convert shared technology priorities into practical business engagements.
The discussions under SITAC are expected to support a more focused India-Sweden engagement agenda in AI and digitalisation. Future cooperation could cover pilots, testbeds, ecosystem partnerships and other technology initiatives.
India Sweden AI Cooperation Supports Responsible AI Growth
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Johnny Eriksson, Market Manager, Business Sweden. The IndiaAI Mission delivered the closing remarks.
The dialogue reflects the growing interest of India and Sweden in using AI and emerging technologies to strengthen innovation and enterprise adoption.
