Ministry of Tourism Partners with Netflix to Promote India Through Storytelling

Ministry of Tourism

The Ministry of Tourism has partnered with Netflix to promote India’s tourism destinations through storytelling, aiming to attract global travellers by showcasing the country’s cultural heritage, landscapes and iconic filming locations.

The collaboration was announced during a special event celebrating a decade of Netflix in India, jointly organised by the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Culture and Netflix at the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) in New Delhi.

As part of the initiative, the Ministry has integrated the “As Seen on Netflix” feature with the Incredible India digital platform, allowing travellers to explore destinations featured in popular Netflix productions. The initiative is expected to encourage screen-inspired tourism while highlighting India’s diverse cultural, historical and natural attractions.

Addressing the event, Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said cinema has the power to connect people with culture, heritage and tourism. He noted that every Indian story has the potential to inspire global audiences to experience the country firsthand and described the partnership as an important step towards strengthening India’s global soft power.

The collaboration also includes destination films showcasing India’s wildlife and cultural heritage, designed to promote experiential tourism and present the country’s diverse tourism offerings to international audiences.

Officials said storytelling has become an increasingly important driver of travel decisions, with digital platforms and creative content playing a key role in influencing destination choices. The partnership is expected to create new opportunities for local tourism businesses while increasing global visibility for Indian destinations.

By combining entertainment with destination marketing, the initiative aims to position India as a preferred global travel destination, supporting tourism-led economic growth and strengthening the country’s presence on the international tourism map.
