Anthropic, an AI firm, is increasing its footprint in the Indian market by integrating Amazon Bedrock’s in-country inference capabilities into its Claude AI model family. Businesses and government organisations looking to implement generative AI while retaining data domestically have been the target of this expansion.
To meet data residency and regulatory requirements in areas including banking, insurance, and the public sector, this feature will be available in the coming weeks and will enable requests submitted through the Amazon Web Services (AWS) India endpoint to be processed on servers located in India.
According to Anthropic, India is one of the biggest markets worldwide for Claude and has a developer environment that is expanding at a quick pace. This news represents their latest investment in the country.Irina Ghose, Managing Director, India at Anthropic, made a statement stating that bringing Claude inference to India marks a turning point for enterprise AI in this country. Particularly in sectors dealing with sensitive consumer data, she noted that allowing organisations to retain data within India will aid in transitioning AI implementations from pilot projects to production settings.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced the product will let organisations utilise Anthropic’s cutting-edge AI models on top of their existing infrastructure for mission-critical workloads. The Indian government and financial institutions are prepared to tap into cutting-edge AI on a massive scale, according to Sandeep Dutta, president of AWS India and South Asia.
The Growth in India Persists
Additionally, Anthropic announced that its Bengaluru office has grown since February, allowing the local staff to better assist corporations, startups, and digital-native firms in developing applications leveraging Claude.
According to the company, Claude has been implemented across several business functions by numerous significant Indian organisations. Engineers at Axis Bank are making better use of the models, and Claude is helping the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) develop its AiNxt agentic AI platform. Godrej Industries has used AI into its software development and business analysis processes, while IndusInd Bank is building an enterprise knowledge platform that uses AI.
IT service providers in India are also increasing the scope of their deployments. Incorporating Claude and the models into its TCS iON learning platform, Tata Consultancy Services is providing 50,000 associates with the software. Cognisant, LTM, and L&T Technology Services are integrating Claude into their corporate AI delivery platforms for clients all over the world. Infosys, on the other hand, is building an Anthropic Centre of Excellence to combine Claude with its Topaz AI platform.
Companies in the consumer technology sector are also embracing these methods. Claude is now part of Swiggy’s offerings via the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which allows for Instamart to provide natural-language shopping. Zoho, meantime, is utilising the models to improve customer decision-making capabilities. Claude is already part of the software development and data management processes of several startups, such as Rocket, Atlan, and Freshworks.
