Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) would run from 2026–27 to 2030–31, according to the Union Cabinet, which is headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Throughout this time, the plan has received approval for a total expenditure of Rs 3.15 lakh crore.
“The Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system is being used to give eligible farmer families income support in a timely and transparent manner through the scheme. This allows farmers to invest more in agriculture and improve their livelihoods,” the official statement said.
Eligible landholding farmer households receive Rs 6,000 per annum as cash help under the scheme. In a total of 23 installments, the government has deposited about 4.47 lakh crore into the bank accounts of farmers as part of the initiative. With the release of over Rs 18,984 crore, the 23rd installment benefited nearly 9.49 lakh farmers.
Women farmers have received almost Rs 1.06 lakh crore under PM-Kisan, and nearly one out of every four beneficiaries is a woman farmer, according to the Centre, which offered further information. An assessment by Niti Aayog’s Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO) found that over 92% of recipients said they put the money toward farming or agricultural investments.
The capacity of farmers to invest in agriculture, productivity, risk reduction in agriculture, and the rural economy will be strengthened by the continuous growth of the PM-Kisan plan, the Centre stressed.
Producing food grains saw considerable increase from 2020–21 to 2025–26. The statement highlighted that overall foodgrain output climbed by around 21.18 percent during this period, while productivity increased by about 10.53 percent and the area under cultivation increased by about 9.65 percent.
