Andhra Pradesh, PNB Sign MoU for India’s First Quantum Banking Hub

A historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been inked between the Andhra Pradesh government and Punjab National Bank (PNB) to create the Amaravati Quantum Valley (AQV) as India’s first bank-led Quantum Finance Hub. Signed by PNB Managing Director & CEO Ashok Chandra and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the agreement signifies a major step forward in the country’s pursuit of cutting-edge banking and financial technology.

Becoming the first Indian bank to team up with a state government to establish a specialised innovation center for banking-related quantum computing and artificial intelligence (AI), PNB opened the Quantum Finance Hub as part of the partnership. Cybersecurity, fraud detection, operational efficiency, customer experience, and secure digital financial systems will all be addressed by the practical solutions that will be developed through the collaborative efforts of industry, academia, startups, research institutions, government agencies, and technology partners.

The move is timed to coincide with the banking industry’s fast digital transformation, which is happening while they face more complex cyber threats and financial fraud risks. The hub’s goals include creating AI and quantum-safe banking technologies; enhancing risk management; bolstering cyber resilience; and creating secure, scalable, and future-ready intelligent banking solutions. It will also encourage innovation challenges, business incubation programs, pilot initiatives, and research collaborations.

During his speech, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu stated that Amaravati Quantum Valley is the cornerstone of Amaravati’s plan to become a world center for deep technologies and innovation. The relationship with PNB, he said, would strengthen India’s position as a global leader in digital banking, artificial intelligence, and quantum technologies while also speeding up research, talent development, startup growth, and innovation.

A key step in PNB’s technological transformation, according to PNB MD and CEO Ashok Chandra, is the establishment of the Quantum & AI Finance Innovation Hub. He mentioned that the platform will promote collaboration on research and technology, as well as startup incubation and industry alliances. This would help the banking sector embrace digital solutions that are ready for the future and align with India’s goal of a financial ecosystem that is secure, robust, and driven by innovation.
