As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, REC Limited has allocated ₹4.22 crore to equip 100 government schools in the Lakhimpur and Kaziranga regions of Assam with smart classrooms. A more contemporary, tech-driven classroom is one of the goals of the effort, which aims to improve digital education infrastructure.
By introducing smart classroom technology into public schools, this project hopes to raise the bar for education by facilitating more engaging and participative pedagogical practices and providing better educational opportunities for pupils. In addition to encouraging the use of cutting-edge pedagogical techniques, the program aims to close the digital gap.
At the Gurugram headquarters of REC Limited, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was inked for the project on July 2, 2026. Signatories to the agreement include B. Vinod Kumar, Director of the Indo-German Institute of Advanced Technology (IGIAT), and L. B. Nautiyal, Head of CSR at REC Limited.
Notable individuals from both REC Limited and IGIAT, including Arun Kumar Tyagi, Executive Director (CSR), were present at the signing ceremony. Working together, the designated public schools should be able to carry out the smart classroom project without a hitch.
Education, healthcare, skill development, environmental sustainability, and community development have all been continuous areas of investment for REC Limited’s CSR programs. Projects that encourage digital empowerment, inclusive growth, and sustainable socio-economic development in India are still being supported by the corporation.
Assam students will benefit from more access to digital learning resources and be better prepared for their future academic and professional endeavours thanks to REC’s smart classroom project, which demonstrates their dedication to enhancing educational results through technology.
