PMAY-U 2.0 has received approval for 18.77 lakh houses, including around 29,000 additional homes across six states under key housing verticals.
The government has approved 18.77 lakh houses under PMAY-U 2.0, giving a further boost to urban housing development and the Housing for All objective. The decision was taken at the ninth meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee in New Delhi on Thursday.
The meeting was chaired by Satendra Singh, Secretary, Department of Urban Development, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
PMAY-U 2.0 Approves Additional Houses Across Six States
The committee also approved around 29,000 additional houses under the Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC) and Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) verticals of PMAY-U 2.0.
The latest approvals cover six states:
- Assam
- Bihar
- Gujarat
- Telangana
- Tripura
- Uttar Pradesh
The approvals are expected to support the expansion of affordable housing in urban areas and help eligible beneficiaries access housing assistance under the scheme.
PMAY-U 2.0 Implementation and Monitoring
Addressing the participating states, Satendra Singh called for coordinated efforts to ensure the timely and effective implementation of PMAY-U 2.0.
He also stressed the need for stronger monitoring to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach all eligible beneficiaries.
Focus on Housing for All
The latest approvals strengthen the government’s efforts to expand affordable housing in urban areas. The scheme focuses on supporting eligible beneficiaries through different housing assistance models.
The government has asked states to maintain effective implementation and monitoring so that approved housing projects progress on time and deliver the intended benefits.
