NTPC Kanti has reached a significant milestone in sustainable power generation with 126% ash utilisation this year, according to top authorities. This achievement was made possible while maintaining strong operating and safety standards.
A strong safety culture and disciplined operations have resulted in zero fatal incidents at the station over the last four years, according to Head of Project Sanjib Kumar Suar, who addressed a press meet. Efficiency and generation capacity enhancement are the plant’s primary goals. As part of its efforts to reduce its environmental impact, the station has planted more than 70,000 trees, further demonstrating its dedication to sustainable methods and effective ash management.
A larger portion of NTPC Kanti’s CSR efforts in the area have recently taken place. Free health checkups, medications, and diagnostic services are being provided during weekly medical camps in neighbouring villages, with the help of a specialised ambulance service for expectant mothers and their newborns.
In terms of education, the corporation has set up smart classrooms in nearby schools and is still running its flagship program, the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM), which gives 40 girls in the area a month of residential training every year.
The goal of implementing skill development programs is to empower women economically. These programs offer training in areas such as baking, food processing, and sewing. Additionally, the station has helped improve the local infrastructure by distributing around 900 desks to local schools and constructing roads and drainage systems.
The achievement of 18 sponsored students who attended the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology in Hajipur has led to employment opportunities for young people, demonstrating the positive effect of skill development programs.
The new developments highlight how NTPC Kanti is integrating sustainability, community development, and operational performance.
