Sidharatha Mishra has been appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ICICI Life Insurance Limited. He will take charge from October 14, 2026, or the date of receipt of approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), whichever is later.
ICICI Life Insurance Limited has appointed Sidharatha Mishra as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
The Board of Directors approved his appointment at its meeting held on October 2, 2026. Mishra has been appointed as an Additional Director and MD & CEO for a period of five consecutive years, subject to the required approvals.
Sidharatha Mishra to Join ICICI Life as COO First
As part of the leadership transition, Sidharatha Mishra will first join ICICI Life as Chief Operating Officer (COO) from October 6, 2026.
Mishra will be transferred from ICICI Bank Limited to ICICI Life. He will be relieved from his responsibilities at ICICI Bank at the close of business on October 5, 2026.
He will subsequently take charge as MD & CEO from October 14, 2026, or the date of IRDAI approval, whichever is later.
Sidharatha Mishra Brings Over 26 Years of Banking Experience
Mishra holds a bachelor’s degree in science and a postgraduate diploma in management (Finance) from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar.
He has more than 26 years of experience in the banking sector. At ICICI Bank, he currently heads Digital Channels & Partnerships, Voice Channel, Customer Service, NRI and IFIG groups.
Mishra is not related to any director of ICICI Life. He is also not debarred from holding the office of director under any regulatory order.
Anup Bagchi to Step Down as ICICI Life MD & CEO
The leadership change follows the resignation of Anup Bagchi as Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Life.
Bagchi will step down with effect from the close of business hours on October 13, 2026. He is leaving the organisation to pursue a new career opportunity outside the company.
The Board has placed on record its appreciation of Bagchi’s contribution to the ICICI Group over the last three decades.
Leadership Transition at ICICI Life
The appointment of Sidharatha Mishra will mark a transition in the senior leadership of ICICI Life. His initial appointment as COO will provide for a transition period before he assumes the MD & CEO role.
The appointment remains subject to the applicable regulatory and statutory approvals, including approval from IRDAI.
