In an effort to make India’s National Highways more secure, resilient, and environmentally friendly, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar have inked an MoU to work together. The highways traverse some of the country’s most difficult hilly terrains.
The agreement was formalised at NHAI Headquarters in New Delhi, marking a significant step toward strengthening infrastructure in mountainous regions. Highway improvements in Himachal Pradesh will benefit from the collaboration’s technical advice. These efforts are directed at minimising the impact of landslides and other severe weather occurrences on connection in mountainous areas. As a result of this collaboration, NHAI will have access to the cutting-edge research, technical knowledge, and creative engineering solutions offered by IIT Ropar. By working together, we can overcome geotechnical and environmental obstacles in highway building and maintenance using cutting-edge scientific methods and technology.
Strong, climate-resilient infrastructure is NHAI’s top priority, and this is demonstrated in the MoU. The effort will aid in the development of safer highways, better connectivity, and economic growth in the hill states of India by integrating field execution with institutional knowledge.
