Renewable LPG in Focus at BPCL Talks

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) is exploring the potential of Renewable LPG (rLPG) as part of discussions on cleaner energy pathways and future fuel supply. At the World LPG Association (WLGA) 2026 event in Istanbul, Shri Subhankar Sen, Director (Marketing), BPCL, held discussions with industry leaders on the role of rLPG in Asia and Africa.

Sen engaged with Tamsin Donaldson, Director of Marketing at Petredec, and Gadibolae Dihlabi, Managing Director of LPGSA. The discussions focused on the potential of renewable LPG to contribute to energy security and decarbonisation while making use of existing distribution infrastructure.

Energy Security

The discussions explored how renewable LPG could complement conventional LPG and support the transition towards cleaner energy sources. Key themes included energy security, decarbonisation and the use of circular feedstocks in renewable fuel production.

The ability to use existing LPG infrastructure was also a focus. Leveraging established distribution networks could support the integration of rLPG into current fuel supply systems, subject to the requirements of its production and deployment.

Renewable LPG Opportunities in Asia and Africa

The engagement highlighted the potential role of rLPG across Asian and African markets. Discussions centred on innovative production methods and the opportunity to use renewable feedstocks to support lower-carbon energy pathways.

BPCL’s participation in the discussions provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives with international LPG industry representatives on the evolving role of renewable LPG in the energy mix.
