Jha joined the Reserve Bank of India in 1998 and has built a long career in the banking and financial sector. His experience includes regulatory compliance, risk management and banking operations.

He later joined the RBI in 1998 and developed expertise across regulatory and supervisory functions. His career has included work related to regulatory compliance and risk management procedures within banking institutions.

Focus on regional financial engagement
As RBI Regional Director for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Jha will lead the central bank’s regional office and engage with financial institutions and government stakeholders in the two Union Territories.

Jha’s previous experience in Goa included regular engagement with state level financial institutions and authorities. His work at the SLBC forum reflects this role in supporting coordination between the banking sector and government agencies.
His appointment adds another senior banking professional with extensive RBI experience to the leadership of the central bank’s regional operations in J&K and Ladakh.
