She highlighted the sector’s contribution to inclusive development, social empowerment, and women’s empowerment, with 68% of the workforce being women. President Murmu noted the sector’s eco-friendliness and its potential for sustainability.
She advocated for obtaining Geographical Indication (GI) tags to enhance the credibility of Indian handicrafts globally and encouraged the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative for increasing international recognition. Additionally, she recognized the growth potential for young entrepreneurs in this field.
