PM Modi to flag off Maruti Suzuki’s first global EV e-VITARA

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate localized production of hybrid battery electrodes at the Suzuki Motor Plant in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The production will begin at the TDS Lithium-Ion Battery plant, a joint venture between Toshiba, Denso, and Suzuki.

This marks a significant milestone for India’s EV and battery ecosystem, with over 80% of battery value now manufactured domestically.

The #eVITARA, introduced by #MarutiSuzuki in January 2025, will be produced at the Hansalpur plant, marking India’s role as Suzuki’s global manufacturing hub for electric vehicles. The initiative aligns with the government’s vision of making India a global hub for electric mobility, advanced manufacturing, and infrastructure development.
