The NTWB 100th VC Meeting marks a major milestone in the National Traders’ Welfare Board’s efforts to strengthen engagement with traders across India. The virtual platform has created a regular channel for traders to share concerns, suggestions and grievances with the Government.
NTWB 100th VC Meeting Marks a Key Milestone
The National Traders’ Welfare Board (NTWB) held its 100th Virtual Conference (VC) Interaction Meeting. The meeting highlighted the importance of regular and structured engagement with the trader community.
The platform was proposed during the Board’s second meeting on 7 February 2024. Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Shri Piyush Goyal chaired the meeting.
The Board proposed a dedicated virtual platform for retail traders. The objective was to enable regular interaction, share information on Government schemes and policies, and provide an easy channel for raising grievances and suggestions.
Virtual Platform Strengthens Trader Engagement
The initiative was formally launched during the Board’s third meeting on 11 July 2024. Since then, VC Interaction Meetings have been held every Monday from 3 PM to 4 PM.
The weekly meetings have helped traders connect directly with the Government. They have also improved access to information on schemes, policies and reforms relevant to the trading sector.
The platform provides traders with a simple mechanism to submit grievances and suggestions. It also helps identify recurring issues and communicate them to the concerned Ministries and Departments.
NTWB 100th VC Meeting Supports Better Policy Dialogue
The 100th meeting reflects the importance of sustained engagement with traders. Thousands of traders have used the platform to share their concerns, experiences and recommendations.
The initiative also supports greater transparency and cooperation between traders and the Government. It brings small, medium and large traders onto a common platform.
Going forward, the NTWB plans to expand participation. It will also strengthen the feedback and recommendation process. The focus will be on achieving more tangible outcomes from issues raised through the platform.
The meeting was chaired by NTWB Chairman Shri Sunil J. Singhi.
Traders Remain Important to India’s Economy
Traders play a key role in India’s economic ecosystem. They connect producers with consumers and support local markets across the country.
The sector also contributes to employment and household incomes. Its performance has a direct impact on local economies and livelihoods.
The NTWB’s continued engagement with traders can therefore support better communication, faster identification of sectoral issues and stronger coordination between the Government and the trading community.
