In order to ensure that all employees, including contract workers, department heads, and Engineers-in-Charge (EICs), are up-to-date on the latest labour rules and regulations, NTPC Bongaigaon hosted an awareness session. Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) Nirmal Chandra Kar of the Ministry of Labour and Employment presided over the session and explained the new labour codes’ important sections as well as their effects on businesses, independent contractors, and employees. Compliance with statutes, safety regulations, welfare programs, and the responsibilities of stakeholders in maintaining an open and lawful workplace were the main points of discussion.
The significance of being aware of and adhering to statutory rules was stressed by Project Head Arnab Maitra, who also underlined the responsibilities of officers and supervisors in ensuring compliance at all levels. Compliance with labour laws is operationally significant in maintaining safety, productivity, and efficient functioning in major industrial setups, according to General Manager (O&M) Anurag Gupta.
Prior to this, Amit Kumar, Head of HR Asthana outlined the company’s stance on worker rights and inclusive policies and procedures. Participants included both permanent employees and independent contractors, and the focus of the meeting was on how to put the new labour regulations into practise.
