NHRC Chairperson, Justice V. Ramasubramanian inaugurated the Winter Internship Programme (WIP)-2025, emphasizing its role as a unique peer learning platform aimed at fostering human rights values among interns.
Justice Ramasubramanian urged the 80 selected students, chosen from 1,485 applicants across 19 states and union territories, to internalize these values to aid in nation-building.

NHRC Secretary General, Bharat Lal, highlighted the importance of youth in promoting human rights and encouraged the interns to embrace empathy and compassion, referencing the constitutional values essential for a just society.
The programme also includes interactive sessions, group research projects, book reviews, and declamation contests facilitated by NHRC Joint Secretary, Smt Saidingpuii Chhakhchhuak, to deepen the interns’ understanding of human rights issues and encourage innovative solutions. The event was concluded with a vote of thanks by NHRC Director, Lt. Col. Virender Singh.
