MECON Limited & Hindustan Copper Limited Partner for Major Modernisation Projects

Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) and MECON Limited have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for MECON to offer DEC and PMC services for HCL’s important copper projects as part of their massive expansion and modernisation programs.

Supporting India’s expanding industrial and infrastructure needs, this cooperation marks a giant leap forward in the country’s capacity to produce copper domestically. One of the biggest copper mining operations in India, the Malanjkhand Copper Project, located in Madhya Pradesh, is set to expand as a result of this agreement. The expansion aims to enhance ore processing capacity, improve operational efficiency, and support long-term growth in copper production.

Due to the increasing demand for copper from renewable energy sources, electric vehicles, power transmission networks, and infrastructure expansion, this project is of vital importance. Imports will decrease and India’s mineral security will be strengthened through increased domestic production. The MoA also includes technology upgrades and modernization work at two major HCL facilities:

Khetri Copper Complex (KCC), Rajasthan
The project’s primary goals are the improvement of energy efficiency, the raising of safety and environmental standards, and the modernisation of smelting and refining processes.

Indian Copper Complex (ICC), Jharkhand
Improving processes, upgrading infrastructure, and adopting sophisticated technology to increase sustainability and productivity are all part of modernisation activities.

While bringing the system up to date with current environmental and industrial regulations, these changes should make it more reliable to operate and save money in the long run.
