Among the most notable administrative changes at Coal India Limited in recent times is the introduction of a new, all-encompassing policy for the transfer of personnel. Among the goals of the policy are to increase openness, boost operational efficiency, and guarantee that all of its subsidiaries have equal opportunity to work in varied situations.
This step is in response to an internal management resolution dated February 12, 2026, which followed years of deliberation over the necessity of addressing the issue of officers serving lengthy terms at the same stations. Data from Coal India and its subsidiaries shows that 1,954 officials have been with the same unit or area for over 15 years. Under the new policy framework, these officers will now be considered for relocation. The higher-ups of Coal India are certain that this approach will improve decision-making, shorten posting times, and introduce new ideas to operational units.
The goal, according to officials, is to make the organization more accountable and to improve its governance standards. Officers who have built their careers at one unit will now have the chance to rotate across other subsidiaries, areas, and operational setups, allowing them to get a broader range of professional experiences.
In order to minimise disturbance to employees and their families, the corporation has stated that the transfer procedure will be implemented gradually, taking humanitarian and administrative concerns into account.
