Madhya Pradesh Sees Boost in Tourist Arrivals on World Tourism Day

Tourism in Madhya Pradesh has seen significant growth, attracting 134.1 million tourists in 2024, up from 89 million in 2019, despite a dip during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The state’s appeal is attributed to diverse tourism offerings, including spiritual tourism, with Ujjain drawing over 70 million visitors last year.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav highlighted sustainable tourism development and emerging sectors such as sports and medical tourism. Madhya Pradesh is home to 18 UNESCO World Heritage sites, contributing to its global heritage status.

Recent investment proposals exceeding Rs 6,500 crore in various regions and improved infrastructure, including new air services and helicopter links, aim to further enhance tourism and economic growth in the state.
