The government has confirmed that there have been no reports of stockouts at retail stores nationwide, and commercial LPG cylinder delivery has restarted for chosen companies across multiple states.
Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Sujata Sharma informed the fuel status briefing that the government has authorised business consumers to accept LPG supplies to support operational demands.
She mentioned that certain states are supplying commercial cylinders straight to companies, which is good news for industries like restaurants and hospitality.
Despite a recent uptick in demand, the official reassured customers that there is still plenty of LPG available and warned against panic booking. She also mentioned that the government is keeping a careful eye on things to make sure that power goes out to homes and businesses without a hitch.
At the same time, two LPG carriers have successfully traversed the Strait of Hormuz, and further tankers are anticipated to do the same following Iran’s safe passage declaration for vessels flying the flag of India.
There are 28 ships flying the Indian flag in the Persian Gulf at the moment, and officials are keeping a close eye on them, according to reports.
In light of the developing circumstances in the region, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has stepped up maritime monitoring and readiness efforts.
With approximately 20% of the world’s oil and gas passing through it, the Strait of Hormuz is still one of the most important energy corridors.
In other news, the Shipping Corporation of India is sending two oil tankers, Shivalik and Nanda Devi, to India soon, with the help of the navy to make sure they get there safely.
