According to a report that was released by the government on Monday, the amount of money that was made from the disposal of scrap from the Swachhata program has reached Rs 4,405.28 crore between the years 2021 and January 2026.
According to the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), a total of Rs 200.21 crore was realised during the period of December 2025–January 2026 alone. Additionally, as part of the record management reforms, 8,132,200 files were eliminated from 5,188 offices.
The 27th edition of the Secretariat Reforms report emphasised the continued progress that has been made in terms of digital governance and administrative efficiency. In the month of January, cleanliness efforts were carried out at 5,188 different locations, which resulted in the release of about 4.34 lakh square feet of office space. The Ministry of Coal and the Ministry of Heavy Industries were among the most significant donors.
The percentage of newly created files that were processed as electronic files was 93.81 per cent in January 2026, while the percentage of receipts that were handled electronically was 95.29 per cent. It is a reflection of the rapid digital integration across departments that fifteen ministries have attained a hundred percent adoption rate for electronic receipts.
The study also included the settlement of more than 5.57 lakh public complaints, which had a resolution rate of 90.41 per cent. Additionally, the report mentioned significant reductions in the number of layers used for file processing, with the average transaction levels falling from 7.19 in 2021 to 4.31 in January 2026.
